Carson Demers (https://www.ergoiknit.com/ ) and I met on the SF quay the other day and had a little master’s class on swaving. I gave him the Durham style knitting sheath that I originally made for Alden Amos, and we worked on his swaving technique. He is a better teacher than I am; and, now he can offer/ teach more techniques for ergonomic knitting.

Great blog -so much information! When I first began knitting I followed what all the popular gurus said and tried Continental on circular needles only to badly aggravate my carpal tunnel syndrome. I nearly quit knitting but then I discovered knitting Shetland style with a knitting belt and long DPN, no pain! It has become my mainstay technique although I can now knit socks (slooowly) on a circular as a portable project. I’d love to be able to knit socks on DPN with a knitting sheath. You make it sound fast and portable! Unfortunately, I have no woodworking skills or tools. I’m hoping you might consider a request to purchase a knitting sheath from you. Thank you so much for this blog and the wealth of information and research you so graciously make available.
